Mifalot to Align with UN Developmental Goals

Mifalot's mission statement goes along perfectly with the long term goals of the UN.

Jesse Schneiderman (08/12/2010)

The U.N. recently published its Millenium Development Goals (MDG). Mifalot is pleased to report that we are committed to helping the development of all mankind throughout the world through our works in the communities in which we are situated. With all of these goals comes great responsibility, and Mifalot accepts the responsibility of promoting equality through sport.

Some of the specific parts of the MDG which Mifalot feels it can most help with are: “Supporting participatory, community-led strategies aligned with national development priorities and strategies,” which Mifalot does through its football programs; “Ensuring the full participation of all segments of society, including the poor and disadvantaged, in decision-making processes,” which Mifalot encourages through the educational facets of its activities, as it promotes leadership in high risk communities; “Increasing efforts to reduce inequality and eliminate social exclusion and discrimination,” which is inherant in the mission statement of Mifalot; and “Enhancing opportunities for women and girls and advancing the economic, legal and political empowerment of women,” which Mifalot shows through its work with women’s groups in Israel, Palestine, and abroad.

Mifalot plans to continue the world’s growth toward these goals through its own programs, and will continue to strive to be a leader in the world of public service through sport.
